Experience
As tutors, we are afforded the unique and valuable opportunity to work one-on-one with our students. There are enormous advantages to this type of learning experience versus classroom-style learning sessions, and although learning in groups is important, there are some things that can only be achieved by a tutor working with an individual student. I have had a long, arduous, and altogether invaluable education. I graduated summa cum laude from Denison University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and minored in Music Performance. I spent my time at Denison University acting as a tutor and fellow for the psychology department. I also played the trumpet in various musical performances and even served as a stage manager for the music department. As a tutor, I helped my fellow students with psychology concepts and writing skills. I then obtained a Ph.D. from Ohio State University in Cognitive Psychology with a focus in College Teaching. During my time at Ohio State, I was overjoyed to be able to give ACT preparation courses, score ACT and SAT writing examinations, and teach a general psychology class. My specialties are writing, reading, psychology, and general scientific literacy. When I'm not teaching, I love to listen to music and play the trumpet.
