I have an B.A. in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin Madison, which I completed in 3 years, the last of which I spent studying Spanish Philology at la Universidad Complutense of Madrid, in Spain. I help students who need English assistance apply for school, jobs, edit papers, read instructions, and more. This past year in Spain, I worked as an English tutor for 5 spanish students, ranging in age from 11-17. I worked with them on conversation, grammar, vocabulary, standardized test prep, and reading. September-November of 2015 I was a student teacher for second grade ELL at Andersen Community School in Minneapolis. I worked with small groups and whole classes teaching English through the content of science and social studies. Currently I am student teaching at St. Anthony Village High School in Minneapolis. I am teaching Spanish 3 there. I want to be a tutor because I love the spanish language and I love teaching. My years of tutoring taught me what I wanted to do with my life and have given me some of my most rewarding experiences working with people. I am a kind, patient person who wants to help people succeed and feel confident about themselves and their abilities.

Hobbies

I love traveling! I spent the summer of 2011 living in Lima, Peru with a host family. While there I helped rebuild the San Lorenzo School in Manchay, a poor village outside of Lima. I worked with the students there, playing with them, helping them with reading and homework, and teaching them simple English. This past year I lived in Madrid, Spain, studying at the best public university in the country and working as an english tutor to five wonderful spanish children. In my free time I explored the city of Madrid, traveled to other cities in Spain as well as other countries in Europe. I am also an avid reader and writer in my free time! I enjoy athletics and am comfortable in a leadership position. I ran track and swam all through high school and was a coxswain for the UW Madison women's rowing team my freshman year.
